I'm counting the weeks (and soon the days) until we begin rehearsals and then fly to China! This is my last week of work, then I have a week to pack up my room for my subletter, and pack my suitcases for the trip ... then we rehearse and depart! On Friday I'm going shopping with Jen, my tour roommate, for cheap toiletries and medicines to take with us. We were recommended to bring the entire 8 months' worth of stuff, because there's no guarantee that we'll find the same thing in China.
Meanwhile, I've heard a rumor going around that blogspot web addresses are blocked in China. Can it be? This is unconfirmed. If it's true, never fear: my blog will also be posted here:

It is the exact same blog, so you only need to check one website.
11 more days!

The Sound of Music - my first production
Two video clips from my first production of The Sound of Music. I played Gretl, and my middle sister played Marta.
Pictures!
I feel like I'm being outdone by the other von Trapp kids' blogs! They are much cooler than mine. I need to make mine more interesting...
Here's my headshot so you can see what I look like (and decide if I'll make a good Louisa!):
And a photo of me in a performance of The Turn of the Screw last summer:
I wish I could find a photo of me playing Brigitta, but it's somewhere lost in a photo album.

Getting closer...
Is it surprising that I'm counting the days until we start rehearsals in NYC, and then the days until we leave? I have one more week of work, after this week, then a week off (school is on spring break) to really prepare, start packing up my room, shop, and maybe do a trial packing for the trip. Then we start rehearsals! It's really getting close.
I had my costume fitting last week, which was very interesting. Some of the costumes were in pieces, which they pinned to me and then marked how they needed to sew them together (they were old costumes that had been taken apart and were not brand newly sewn. Some things looked like they'd fit a 9-yr-old, particularly the party dress and the nightgown. (And I thought I saw Marta wearing that very nightgown on the website with pics from the last tour ... hmm ... and Marta is supposed to be nearly 7 years old ... and I tried on that nightgown ... hmmm ...) And some fit quite well, which made me laugh, because I believe the last person who played Louisa and wore those costumes was a 12-yr-old girl! The costumers will be making adjustments and bringing everything back the day before we start rehearsals, to check the fit. Then we get to lug it all in a suitcase to China. What fun!
I've been in touch with Zachary's father for a while now. Zachary is going to be playing Kurt, my little brother, on the tour. He has also started a blog, which is here:

I'm sure our blogs will become much more active once we actually start rehearsing and then get to Asia.
