We just got wind of our flight details - still no official word from Troika though. Apparently we are on a 1 a.m. flight to Shanghai, then connecting to Chengdu. The best part: the flight is 16 hrs 20 minutes long, and the airplane does NOT have individual TVs in the seats or outlets to plug in laptops.
WHO DOES THAT?!
I am very disturbed because I know most people will want to sleep for most of the flight, but I am horrible at sleeping on planes. I'm even horrible sleeping in general! I'll take an antihistamine to make me sleepy, and then I'll just lie awake feeling slightly sick because I'm so tired ... but can't sleep.
Maybe this will be my charmed flight and I'll sleep for 8 hrs (which is only half of the flight length - ouch!).
It's really happening! Still waiting for more information about rehearsals next week, though.
I'm nearly packed, both in terms of my room and in terms of the tour. This is amazing! I might actually make it with one big checked bag, one medium-small checked bag, and my rolling backpack as a carry-on. That is my goal. Even though I no longer have to take a costume suitcase (thank heavens!), I will be a very happy child if I don't have to add another carry-on bag.
On Monday many of the NYC area cast (including most or all of the kids, I hope, who will be in town for rehearsals) are meeting for dinner, to get to know each other. Fun!
